The Leigh-on-Sea Kitchen
“I had been following Herringbone on IG for some time and when we decided it was time to do the kitchen they were no 1 in my mind. We booked the initial visit at the studio and met with Rob. He understood straight away what we were hoping for and my husband (who hadn’t been looking at any kitchens or inspo) was more than happy that we’d come to the right place.”
The Design
We love how this open plan space and kitchen seems to flow so seamlessly. This kitchen works great for socialising but it also connects the living space with the outdoor garden through the large doors and landscape panoramic window above the sink and worktop.
The bespoke design is clever on storage and features floor to ceiling cabinet units on either side of the Range Cooker and sink. Further upper cabinets wrap around the worktop in a neat and impactful way. The large island makes for comfortable seating for the whole family. It makes use of every single space available and we love it.
The cabinets are designed in our Westminster Style and painted in a lovely off-white similar to our Cathedral Stone colour from our own Herringbone Paints range and the island in a dark green colour.
“Whilst we weren’t having an extension (the size of the room would stay the same) we were having some intense building works with removing a supporting wall, moving a window and boiler and all new flooring and electrics. Rob helped us decide upon the size and placement of window which we then fed back to our builders. They worked great in conjunction.“

This kitchen has extraordinary attention to detail, and is packed full of storage both visual to the eye and hidden out of sight. From the Quartz worktop flowing throughout the kitchen to the brass plugs on the island we love how this kitchen flows so smoothly in so many ways. The solid closed cabinets are designed to hide away any potential visible mess whilst looking elegant.
“Some aspects of the design were particularly important to us - 4 seats at the island for our 4 children, everything behind closed door to minimise mess (4 kids!) and the wine fridge! The appliances juggled back and forth to either end of the kitchen trying to fit everything in and ultimately we ended up speaking to the builder and moving the boiler so we could keep the larger wine fridge but also have the counter cupboard above it. The communication between us, Herringbone and our builders was essential to this. “
The window above the sink is a real talking-point and a beautiful (as well as practicular in terms of getting light into the kitchen) addition. The seamless sink works really well and we love the burnished brass handles used throughout.
